She never spoke back.
He enslaved her. At least that’s what he thought.
She never slept in the nights. He put her on the most comfortable bed. But it was no less a bed of shattered glass-pieces to her.
He thought she loved him back, for he only bestowed the best things in the world to her. She always smiled, concealing her pains.
What else would he desire? He had everything he ever wanted. He wasn’t aware that his dearest possession was never his.
On one darkest hour of the night, when the rays of the full moon pierced through the window, she soaked herself in the moonlight and like a werewolf, walked on the trail of the light.
She gazed at her image in the mirror for long hours questioning herself, if she was really helpless.
Why did she inflict such pains on herself?
She thought she had traded her soul in the name of companionship.
Is something left of me?
Will I ever see the sun?
She asked herself. What then followed, was a frenzy of rage? She wasn’t a lifeless doll anymore. She had some life left in her and that sparked stirrings of ineffable vehemence.
She freed herself.
